Vincent Williams
Born and raised in Akron, Ohio. I began my photography journey in 2023. Since then, I have been involved with the Northeast Ohio music scene. I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with many great bands such as [REDACTED], Talk Less and Hard Hat to name a few.
Before 2023 I only had thought of getting into photography a few times. In fact, I was actually trying to have a different art career. I had been drawing, painting and even began tattooing myself. During this time, I was gifted my bass guitar. A Guild Pilot that I nicknamed Karen after the woman who gave it to me. Shortly after getting the bass, I reconnected with a friend from high school who was in a band called Half Past Late. We began talking more and more. Eventually having some jam sessions together. It was mentioned that they were going to be playing a slot at Porch Rokr a local music festival. Not thinking it would lead to anything I asked permission to take some pictures of them using a camera I had been gifted.
So, the show came and equipped with only a Minolta Maxxum 3xi 35mm film camera I took their pictures. The results were a lot better than I was expecting. It was my first time using a camera and my first time trying to take pictures of a live musical performance. After that I was then given an important task. I was asked if I could do photos of their last show they were ever going to play. Knowing that such an event would require more than just the film camera I bought a Cannon Rebel T7 with a kit lens and some SD cards and went to the show.
It was at this show that I was introduced to a local punk band called [REDACTED]. Working with [REDACTED] has been a dream. They have helped me network the local music scene and grow my skills as a photographer. They have been my biggest supporters over the past year.
